Simple Tips on How To Enjoy Running
May you be a beginner or a pro, sometimes, there are days that you don't feel like running! We all need some motivation sometimes.
Grab a friend, a dog, or explore new places. These are a few of the simple running tips to help you to enjoy running. Read along here:
DO HILL REPEATS/SPRINTS
Hill Repeats is one of the best training you can do if you want to improve your upper body and lower body strength, increase speed, and endurance.
To do Hill Repeats, sprint uphill at least 200-250 meters, and run downhill at an easy pace. Repeat this for at least 5 reps. Remember to take at least a 2 minute break each set.
Make sure to take shorter strides and don't lean forward to much.
PACE YOURSELF AS YOU RUN.
It's okay to start slow!
Fast runners started slowly at first. As a beginner, it's okay to jog or run slowly. You can do a 30-minute walk followed by a 20-minute run. Or a jog followed by a run. Once you start running every day, you'll be able to easily adapt to it and run faster.
HAVE A RUNNING BUDDY
Who said you'll be running alone?
Taking a friend or loved one with you is a good way to bond! Running while having a good conversation can help you keep going. You can also have a healthy competition with your running buddy like, who runs the longest or farthest.
RUN WITH A DOG
Dogs are one of the best running buddies we can have. They can instantly motivate you to run longer and farther. Dogs also help reduce stress and anxiety in humans. Studies have proven that dogs who are active are happier, healthier, and live longer.
Both of you will benefit from running together.
EXPLORE NEW PLACES.
Try a different route this time!
The roads are the usual routes, but you can also try trail running for more adventure. You'll be more excited for your next running day because of the beautiful view you'll see.
But, make sure to plan your route first to ensure your safety.
TRY DOING INTERVALS OR THE RUN-WALK METHOD
Doing intervals or the Run-Walk method is a
great way to help you start running. It is a method where you run for a couple of minutes followed by a short walk for rest and help your heart rate recover.
Example: 3:1
Run for 3 mins. followed by 1 min. walk
LISTEN TO A GOOD RUNNING PLAYLIST
Running can be sometimes boring if you are alone, so a good running playlist can keep you entertained and help you get in the mood!
TRAIN AND JOIN A RACE OR A FUN RUN
Challenge yourself! Try registering for a local race or Fun Run.
You get that feeling of excitement whenever you see fellow runners train for a race, or just happily running during Fun Runs. You will also be determined to go running daily since you committed to something. Go for it!
